"Blast
from the Past" put on by the Shoalhaven Volkswagen Club
turned into "blast" from the present!! This was a
great day out for charity (Shoalhaven Cancer Bus) and enjoyed
by all Flat Four members who attended.
|
The
show was held at Berry, located on the South Coast of New South
Wales, about two hours drive south from Sydney.
|
|
|
It
was an early start from Sydney for the cruise on a very chilly
and breezy morning. It felt like Winter had started a month
early, quite a change from the recent warm weekends we'd been
having.
|
The
turnout for the cruise was excellent. As a club, it was the
biggest turnout in recent times and rekindled the club spirit.
It doesn't get much better than being part of a Sunday cruise
in a line of VWs heading down the highway.
|
|
|
It
was a leisurely drive down to Berry with no breakdowns or mishaps
thankfully. You could see the smiles breakout on the faces of
Berry locals enjoying a morning coffee as they looked up to
see a myriad of coloured VWs entering the town.
|
The show itself was very low key and relaxed. The hosters of
the event handed out some great commemorative plaques for the
early arrivers and some sets of drinking glasses were also kindly
supplied too.
|
|
|
The
weather couldn't have been better as it warmed up quite nicely.
The Berry Country Fair was also on so you could too and fro
between enjoying the VWs and grabbing a bargain or two at the
markets.

On
a club note, congratulations to Peter Huckstepp on winning two
trophies including People's Choice on the day and Murray Flemming
for winning Best Water-Cooled VW!!!
