Barb's Bits - July 2012
Hi All, another month been and gone and once again I'm late with my "bits." My how time flies!
Most of you know that I'm off to WA soon to see my brother so I'm counting on you to look out for Steve while I'm away!! Goodness only knows what trouble he'll get into on his own, especially at Nambucca!!
Huge congratulations to Shane and Carmen Hobson who are expecting their first child. The baby is due in October and both Shane and Carmen have been working very hard on the nursery. I saw some pics and I just love what they have done, purple and blue with the cutest baby duck on the wall courtesy of Shane's handiwork. Carmen looks gorgeous and Shane very attentive so lets hope it's all smooth sailing in the next few months.
Congratulations to Phil Svoronos who celebrated his 40th birthday last month. Phil enjoyed a Greek style bbq at home with his many family and friends. I told you last time about Bill getting his hand caught in a machine at his work, well I'm pleased to say that it is coming along quite nicely. No bandaging or sling although it is still swollen and Bill is having intense physio and pretending it doesn't hurt in front of kids with sports injuries etc. I must say the scar on his palm is really neat but the damage underneath is intensive but hopefully he will regain full use of it and be back in the workforce before we know it.
Kangaroo Valley was a bit of a fizzer!! At first twenty of us were going but unfortunately for one reason or another only six went in the end. Those six though had a terrific week-end and the weather was perfect. Apparently all of Saturday was spent in a chair and that evening wine bottles were placed in the fire for light entertainment!!
The next outing will be on Saturday the 14th July. If you are interested in going to the Hot Rod Show at Hungry Jacks, Sylvania Waters please meet at Casula McDonalds at 4.30pm for a 5.00pm departure.
I don't think any of us thought it would happen but Murray is selling his T3 dual-cab ute. In the meantime he has bought a fantastic T5 van. I don't know how he does it but he's very canny when it comes to vehicles!!
MEMBERSHIPS ARE DUE.......
Canberra is on again on the weekend of the 22nd/23rd September. If you are going down on Saturday please meet at Pheasants Nest at 6.30am and ring Murray. If you are unsure whether to go or not, bear in mind that Old Bar is on the following weekend. On the 2nd of September the Rat Day is on but there will be more information on this at the next meeting on the 12th August (postponed to the Sunday after Valla). Last but not least, raffle prizes are needed. We have been very slack in regards to our monthly raffles hence we won't be having much of a Christmas party if we don't get our act together in the next few months. Even if you haven't won a prize could you please bring one along and help build up a stockpile, it will be very much appreciated.
Well I guess that's it for this month. I hope you all have good times while I'm away and I look forward to seeing you all when I get back next month.
In the meantime......Keep the Shiny Side up!
Barb
