Dam Cruise (Perfect Weather!)
How many times have you heard the expression, "what a difference a week makes.."? Well if you're talking about weather, today was the perfect example for our Club cruise out to Warragamba Dam.
Think back only last weekend, Flat Four spent the June long weekend at Kangaroo Valley and whilst a good time was had by all, it was hardly the weather to break out the shorts and the sunnies (and a few people couldn't understand why I still thought it was t-shirt weather!). By all accounts, the rain was shocking in Sydney also. Fast forward one week for our cruise to Warragamba Dam today. We couldn't have asked for better weather, clear sunny skies and an ideal temperature for cruising.
The meeting point was Plough and Harrow (West) Park at Cecil Park. It was good mixture of Flat Four cars, some great friends from Club VeeDub Sydney and some faces new to me of the variety you want to see at a cruise i.e. VW lovers just looking for a social cruise. Keep this in mind readers for future events, you don't have to be a member to tag along, just bring your friendliest attitude and your favourite Dub!
After a good chinwag and some tea/coffee and biscuits while we waiting for everyone arrive, the Beetles headed off the cruise to the Dam. Unfortunatey one of the Kombis became an early casualty but it was soon back on the road, thanks to Adam who was kind enough to work some magic. No-one can accuse Adam of VW prejudice, he was driving a water-cooled Caddy, fixed up a Kombi and later a Beetle!!

It was a nice relaxing pace out to the Dam and I hope everyone had time to enjoy the drive and soak up some fresh air and warm sun on the way. When we arrived at the Dam, some Flat Four members had already driven ahead and fired up the bbq. Is there anything more welcoming than stepping out of your Dub and smelling sausages and onions off the hotplate!! Sorry any vegetarians!!
More time was then spent relaxing, chatting and checking out the rides. Some People's Choice trophies were awarded to two worthy Beetles and a Kombi. All in all, another great day out.
These cruises don't just magically happen and thanks needs to go out the those Club members who organised the cruise and helped out with the bbq etc.
If nobody turned up from outside the Club, we stll would have had a good day out, so anyone joining us for the ride is simply cream on top and made the cruise even more enjoyable. Many thanks to everyone outside the Club who joined us today and we hope you can come along to other events. Hopefully some new friendships were formed today between Dubbers with a common interest of social cruising.
A special mention to Joey whose poor Herbie Beetle lost a windscreen today. Despite being completely smashed on the way to the cruise (a flying stone I believe?), they still came on the drive sans-windscreen!! Now that's a love of cruising!!
Please enjoy some pics from the cruise here. Apologies that some of the driving shots are blurred as I had forgotten to change the shutter speed from the static shots.
