President's Report - August 2011

Hi guys,

Sorry about not getting a report out last month, no excuses, just had stacks to do and didn’t get around to doing it.

That doesn’t mean I am going to have twice as much this month, I think everyone else has covered most of the interesting things we have been up to, and we have done quite a bit since my last report.

We had our Kangaroo Valley weekend away and although the weather had been very wet, it turned out pretty good, pretty cold, but patchy showers over the weekend that still let us to do pretty much what we wanted without too much discomfort. The fire was kept alight all weekend, we did the markets, had our rematch of Bocce, celebrated Miss Maddisyn Critcher's 2nd birthday, cooked and enjoyed our Saturday night dinner, and shared a few social drinks, what more could you want?

Our Cruise to the Dam turned out to be fairly successful with a few new faces and few more familiar faces that we can always count on. Thanks to all the Club members who helped on the day, we certainly could not have managed without you.

Blast From The Past at Berry, was, as usual, a great day. It’s such a lovely cruise, that little winding part along the coast from Kiama is just perfect! There was a respectable turn up and everyone was able to wander around the markets or stroll up to the main street. We all ended up back at The Critcher's. Kev & Amy really should be careful when they make off handed suggestions to come back to their place, Flat Four will always take up an offer like that; a sausage on a roll and good company makes for a great Club meeting, thanks guys.

We had a cruise on Sunday 24th July which I couldn’t make, well Vicki couldn’t make. She was flat out getting things organised for Rochelle’s 21st which we were having at home, so I didn’t want to go for a run on my own. Dave & Leanne, Bill & Rachel were the only ones that did go and by all reports it was a great day,. The weather turned out sunny and beautiful after a week of rain. Sometimes when there is only a couple of cars you can have a lot of fun; and a table for four is always easier to find.

tiki motorexI took up a last minute invite to head off to MotorEx with Steve and his wheelchair bound mate who had always wanted to go and check out the cool cars, Vicki didn’t want to go MotorEx so I was able to escape for a couple of hours without ending up in the dog house. We met Shane & Darren, who both had cars on display, Dave Stoker, who also had a car on display and Dan who was there just checking it out. It wasn’t a bad day, lots of big dollar builds and half dressed young girls, some of them should still be at home with their mummy’s. Something I did realise, thanks to Steve’s disabled mate, there really is not a lot of disabled parking available, so stop complaining that they get all the good spots!

Last Sunday was the August Meeting and it was nice to see Scott as we don’t see him that much these days due to his work commitments, he is quite a busy bloke. He gave us all the statistics from our website and they are quite impressive! I would like to send a big thank you to Scott for his involvement in getting us up and running and for making us look good. I have had a lot of calls and enquiries coming directly from the website. I would like to also thank all you Club members for contributing to the website and making it a more interesting site to visit.

Next Sunday (21st  August) we are taking a run to Berrima, we are having a good old fashioned sausage sizzle  barbqeue, so let Leanne know if you're coming so she can get enough rolls or you might miss out.

Sunday 4th September we are meeting at Casula McDonalds at 9.00am for the Rat Rod Show at Taren Point, check with Dan for further details.  As it's Fathers Day there is no meeting, it will be held the next Sunday the 11th September.

Canberra (the German Autofest 2011)  is coming up so get in and arrange your accommodation for the night of 17th of September, and check your accommodation is all good for the Old Bar Beach Festival, October long weekend Friday 30th to Monday 3rd October.

Who said I wasn’t going to rave on?

Until next time…..Happy Cruisin……Murray
