President's Report - December 2011
Hi guys, Merry Christmas! I hope you are all on top of your Christmas shopping, it won’t get any easier you know!

I kinda enjoy that crazy Christmas Eve, snatch and grab approach myself, Vicki and the girls have done extremely well on occasions! It all depends on the store you race into with that “god someone give me some idea” look on your face and on the shop assistant who can see that she can make commission here with no trouble at all. But, seriously it’s not all about the present, it’s more about the thought (oh and sometimes there is very little thought, oh well!). Maybe next year I will really get myself organised, maybe I’ll hit the post Christmas sales? Yeah right!
We went to the drags, it was very hot, but a good day was had by all, Dave and Leanne, Vicki and I and Dan who had a venue malfunction (Prestons – Casula, they really shouldn’t build Maccas so close together!). Stuart in the Splitty was tow vehicle for Shane. Darren came first in his class and “someone came second” that is definitely a “Murrayism” but I had to put it in. It was great to see such a large number of VW competitors and they sure are competitive. I am sure the scene is going to grow over the next few years – but they need our support, the next big one is in February, so keep your eyes open for details and let’s get out there and show them we are interested.
The next weekend was Boris’s picnic day, I was unable to attend but believe it was, as usual, a good family day out. Last Sunday we had our December meeting which we held at my place, and I think everyone had a nice night. We covered all the formalities but then we had a chance to catch up and chat; it’s nice to see the mums and the kids who usually don’t make it to the Club meetings. I think we might make it a tradition.
Next Sunday is the annual Flat Four Christmas picnic to be held at Stanwell Park as per norm because it’s always pretty good. Let Leanne or myself know if you are coming, we wouldn’t want you to miss out on a decent feed because we didn’t know how many were coming. Check Barb's Bits or the calendar for the meeting time and see you there. Finger crossed for the weather!
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Stay safe….Until next time…..Happy Cruisin….Murray

Footnote from Vicki: You may heard about the new caravan project. What can we say...we saw, we liked, we bought!! Now we have to work out what to do with it!!!
