Owner’s name: Corrin Fleming

Club Member since: 1998

VW’s name: Rinnie

VW type: 1995 Golf – hatch

Engine: 2000cc fuel injected, automatic 2 litre gearbox

Built by: Factory built

Wheels: 15 x 6 Speedy Rims with Federal Tyres

Exterior: Red, front bonnet and stone guards, wind deflectors

Interior: Original grey velour, standard cassette/radio and VDO gauges

Background: Rinnie was acquired at Christmas 2001. I decided it was time to update from my Type 3 Notch. I wanted something a bit more comfortable and reliable to get to work.

Prior History: The original owner had passed away and his wife sold the Golf to me.

Best memory: My first time driving into Valla in Rinnie!!

Horror story: None as yet!

Racing: Drag and street

Shows: Shown at Club displays

Future plans: Would like a respray, skirt kit, new rims and a big stereo! Or I might just settle for a new Bora.

Dream Car: A Bora (maybe dreaming a little bit too large) or a 1949 Ford Mercury

Chit-chat: I grew up around VWs. My uncles drove them and Dad started collecting and restoring too. My first car was a 1967 Beetle which was from a deceased estate. I had that for 12 months and then sold it to buy a 1972 Notchback. My Dad and I restored it (resprayed, new interior, pop-outs fitted and Porsche rims). I sold it and bought my Golf.

I work at Vintage Vee Dub Supplies at Campsie which makes it easy to get parts and I learn a lot more about my hobby and meet a lot more new friends.
